Hiking, Rafting and Rejuvenating in Rockies
We meet in Calgary, Alberta the first night and head out on the town! The next day, we bust towards the mountains in a Thelma and Louise-esque road trip exploring quaint towns long the way such as Banff and Canmore and arrive that night at an off-the-grid, eco-friendly mountain lodge in the Kootenay's region of B.C. The Kootenay river valley represents one of Canada's least traveled wilderness areas where you can enjoy the Rockies without busloads of tourists. Hiking, Cycling, and Kayaking in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland
Join Wild Women Expeditions on our inaugural adventure to Newfoundland’s beautiful west coast and the internationally acclaimed Gros Morne National Park. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Park is dominated by two distinct landscapes-coastal lowlands following the Gulf of St. Lawrence and alpine regions of the Long Range Mountains. We shall explore both hiking through wild, uninhabited mountains; kayaking a freshwater fjord with towering cliffs carved by glaciers; meandering through colorful fishing villages by bike. The Park provides habitat for vast array of plant and animal life -a unique mixture of temperate, boreal, and arctic species. Rare vegetation clings to this landscape while moose, caribou, ptarmigan, and Arctic hare can be seen frequently. Minke whales, eagles, terns, mink, mergansers and kingfishers are also commonly sighted. On this active trip, we will have full days hiking, one day kayaking, one day cycling, and a laidback, touristy day. We will explore the ancient rugged Long Range Mountains, the plateau barrens called the Tablelands, the incredibly beautiful Western Brook Pond Fjord, and hike the Green Gardens to see its famed pillow rocks on the wind-swept coast. Included: 6 nts comfy cabins, all meals, bike and kayak rental, local certified guides, transportation to and from airport and en route, Airfare not included.
